1. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the AgriGrovestudies Hydroponics Quickstart Course! I’m Prashant , and I’m thrilled to guide you on an exciting journey into the world of soilless farming. Hydroponics is a rapidly growing method for cultivating plants, offering fantastic benefits for productivity, sustainability, and efficiency.
Let’s get started with the basics!
1. What is Hydroponics ?
Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Instead of relying on soil to supply nutrients, we provide plants with a nutrient-rich water solution. In hydroponics, roots are typically suspended in a water-based solution that contains all the nutrients needed for growth.
Depending on the setup, this nutrient solution can be either static – meaning it stays in place and is aerated to ensure proper oxygenation – or dynamic, continuously flowing around the roots to keep them nourished.
Hydroponic culture can be practised with or without an artificial medium, such as sand, gravel, vermiculite, rock wool, perlite, peat moss, coir, or sawdust, to provide mechanical support. The most common aspect of all definitions of hydroponics is that it involves growing plants without soil, with nutrient solutions, or
nutrient-enriched water.
